(At the Fourpeaks Photo Guest Book.)

    1) You have permission to bring your pet if you arrange this with us in advance and the dog is covered in our confirming reservation letter.

    2) Your pet must be under your control at all times.

    3) It's OK for your dog to be off lead when on trails, on the river, in fields and meadows and in any other situation as long as you are present and in control of your dog. (See cautionary note below.)

    4) At your Fourpeaks rental you are not under any circumstances permitted to let your dog loose, unless you are present and in control.

    5) Your pet must not be left alone in your accommodations, unless it's in a cage or crate. Not crate trained? Take poochie with you when you go out. (We do.) Need help on this? Please ask. Boarding is available.

    6) Poo. Pick up after your dog near buildings at our backcountry camps.

    7) Remove dog hair. (Our blankets and rugs are wool.) Bring a tacky lint picker or lint brush. An extra sheet to cover beds is a good precaution. Ask and we'll supply one.

Additional Rental Costs for Dogs.  Thanks for bringing your dog on vacation. (We've always had a dog with us over the years and it hurts at vacation time to have to leave poochie home or at a kennel.) Fourpeaks pooch fee is $25 for a stay of any length. Don't send the money now. We'll add it to the rental price.

Safety Hazards at our Backcountry Camps. SAFETY FIRST! is a A MUST READ page for all guests. A Cautionary Note.  A dog that is ordinarily obedient may be lured away from you by game scents and sightings here at Fourpeaks. If this happens you are at risk of losing your dog forever. The forest is full of dangers that a domestic dog could not cope with, including coyote packs strong enough to hunt and bring down deer. Walking your dog off lead? Make sure you trust your dog to stay under control. Not sure? Keep your dog on lead.
We never let our old Cocker off lead. George, the current FRCH (Fourpeaks Resident Canine Host), smart enough to give Miss Porcupine a wide berth, stays close when out on walks. And years ago Albert, the Singing Schnau, though a small dog, was quite a dependable trail walker. (It depends on the dog.)

Emergency Information for Doggy Guests. Emergency Information for Doggy Guests. Doggy Care and Boarding.   Need help? See Martin at Camp Barn any time day or night. George's doctor team, Suzanne and Craig Russell, D.V.M.'s, have their full service veterinary hospital in Westport (35 miles) available for emergency needs. Craig also has an office in Peru (25 miles). Additionally, the Palmer Veterinary Clinic in Plattsburgh (35 miles) is staffed with 3 vets on 24-hour call. Boarding with indoor runs is available at Westport, $16/day, visitors welcome. (CLICK HERE for Fourpeaks Yellow Pages for hours, directions and complete contact information.

We well remember the visitor a year or so ago who complained about the unpleasant glare from the HTML default royal blue links. That lead us to entirely revamp our background and link colors, making them softer, more eye pleasing. And the Florida expert who warned us about frustrating visitors with blind links. We followed his advice and now carefully identify each link so visitors know before they "click" exactly where they're clicking to.
