Jeff and Terri. "The Cabin at Fourpeaks was the most romantic setting we ever could have hoped for."
Terri and I had been dating for almost 2 years and I decided it was time to ask her to marry me. I bought the ring so all I needed was the perfect place to ask her. I found it--The Cabin at Fourpeaks was the most romantic setting we ever could have hoped for.
I asked her one night while sitting by the fireplace with the warmth of the flames next to us. We spent the next 3 days hiking the beautiful trails all around the Fourpeaks area. We had brought our Alaskan Malamute "Timber" with us and he loved it more than we did! We decided that we will return each year at the same time to celebrate our engagement. We couldn't have picked a better place for our most precious of memories.

Get back to nature at an off-the-grid retreat.
Sure, pampering is nice, but few things are more therapeutic

honeymoon that revolves around the bounty of Mother Nature.
Postmodern camping-which offers a scenic setting along with a
list of amenities that soften the edge on roughing it--is a great,
affordable way to decompress after the deed is done.

What is a tender time away?
Dear Visitor,
The following gem of webwriting was brought to our attention by Roger M., whose Mom wrote it as a tribute to her late husband. (See our email exchange below which includes a link to the entire series of articles.)
We offer this to Fourpeaks visitors in a spirit of fun. At the same time it incorporates many useful suggestions about arranging those all-important just-you-two times alone.
To avoid problems with the ever-present web spiders, a much-overused webword beginning with "R" appears variously as "tender" or "just-you-two" and a totally-overemployed webword beginning with "G" appears as "time" or "days," "away" or "alone."
Enjoy!
Best wishes,
Martin (Your discrete Adirondack Guide.)

What is a tender time away?
By Roger's Mom
A tender time away can be defined as anywhere two people go to be alone and share their love. This can mean several different things according to what person you talk with. Some people may enjoy a walk along a sunny secluded beach while others may enjoy a snow capped mountain view. You may want to stay your in own private cabin or go out and see the sites together. The idea is that you are sharing your life with the person you love in a tender setting that you both will enjoy and remember.
Whether you are wishing to renew your love, celebrate an anniversary or enjoy your honeymoon you will find there are many places to find a just-you-two time away. This is a time to get to know each other even if you have been married for years. This will be a time to reestablish the love that you both share together.
Tender days alone will be a memory that you both will share for many years to come; plan one every year to keep your marriage or your relationship alive and strong. Many times during our daily lives we tend to get wrapped up in work, family and sometimes forget to show our better half just how much we love and appreciate them. Spend quiet time with them to show just how much you care. Share an intimate conversation at dinner and take that moment to express your feelings: Your words will be appreciated.
A just-you-two time away will put a zing back into your relationship that may have been put on a back burner due to other obligations.
If this is your first tender days alone, then you will be exploring your love for one another and your life together. Plan a just-you-two dinner to be brought to your room along with flowers and champagne. Dress accordingly. Have everything you need delivered to your room or remember to bring it along in your luggage. This may be one time you may not want to leave your room except for stepping out on the balcony to share the sunset and sunrise wrapped in the arms of your loved one.
A tender time alone can last as long you desire. You can plan a wonderful days alone for the weekend or even for an entire two weeks. If you are going on a longer time away you will find many ways to enjoy the sites and other attractions while cuddling in each others arms or just holding hands. The idea is to not be apart for any amount of time but to enjoy it all together. This should be a time of bonding for the first time or for refreshing the love that is already there. You will return home with a new outlook on your partner and on life.
Love is a precious commodity that you should never take lightly. Try to plan as many just-you-two times away as you can, so you can always hold dear the love that you both have for one another. Keep your love alive by enjoying every minute of your days alone in the arms of the special one for whom you care the most.

Martin,
Thanks again for having such a great place. Olive, Jen
and myself had a wonderfuly relaxing time at Four
Peaks. We were able to enjoy New Camp with all of it's
spectacular views. The hammock(as well as the biscuts)
is addictive. We did explore the surrounding area some
and were able to hike Mount Marcy. We did it on a
weekday as to avoid the 'known crowds'. We feel in
love with the swimming hole at the end of your
driveway. We were able to soak up some sun and catch
some fish. Not only did we fall in love with the
wonders of nature that abound at Four Peaks we also
fell in love all over again with each other. When we
left New Camp and Four Peaks we were refreshed in mind
spirit and soul. One night after eating the trout that
we had caught earlier that day Jen and I took Olive
out for a stroll. The setting sun turned the sky
ablaze, the fireflies sparkled in the evening breeze
and Jen was as radiant as ever. As I dropped to my
knee to ask Jen to marry me, she looked more beautiful
than anyone I've ever seen. Over the gurgling of the
stream I heard her say, Of course! What a wonderful
time and place to start anew and to start our life
together. Olive must have thought it was all dandy
also as she was rolling on her back in the dew covered
grass. We will send pictures soon. Take care and hope
to visit again soon.

Whether you're an experienced webmaster or just a novice surfer, you may have feedback or suggestions to help us improve. We well remember the visitor a year or so ago who complained about the unpleasant glare from the HTML default royal blue links. That lead us to entirely revamp our background and link colors, making them softer, more eye pleasing. And the Florida expert who warned us about frustrating visitors with blind links. We followed his advice and now carefully identify each link so visitors know before they "click" exactly where they're clicking to.
Your comments or suggestions will be equally appreciated.
