Guestbook Entry Date : 2/18/2002 Name : Brian T*** Email : w**1@mindspring.com Location : Sparta, NJ Comments : The simplicity & silence was a joy. The magnificent show of stars, constellations, planets & galaxies gave a sense of coming home. Very comfortable, nicely furnished, cozy cabin just what we were looking for. And the echo off the mountains, incredible. "Solitude begets exhilaration." Thanks again, BT #1508 "We really enjoyed New Camp. The deer came out to snort at us. A whippoorwill sang to us one night." Subject: RE: Your Fourpeaks visit 08/09/11 to New Camp From: Kay**@*****.com Date: 8/18/2011 8:25 AM To: martin@4peaks.com Dear Martin, Dave and I want to thank-you for sharing this amazing piece of the Adirondacks with us. There is so much to see and explore. We enjoyed having the place to ourselves, without the tourists. Nature, as it is intended to be. Not touched, and ruined, by people. Isn't it just amazing that people think they can "improve" a waterfall by adding a light and sound show to it? We really enjoyed New Camp. I love sitting on the porch and relaxing with the view. The deer came out to snort at us. A whippoorwill sang to us one night. While hiking, we encountered a ruffed grouse courting his gal. We also scared a bird that had a nest on the ground with some blue eggs in it. A brownish bird, not too large. We hightailed it out of there so as not to disturb it any more, but I am thinking it was a robin...not that usual for them to nest on the ground, but they will occasionally (so the information on the internet said). We would like to try to visit again this fall to see those majestic old sugar maples in their fall color. I am not sure if we can manage 3 nights though, may have to be a 2 night trip. Vacation time is limited for us. We will be back in touch when we figure it out. I wish we'd have known about 4 Peaks years ago! We did investigate the other cabins - they are all so beautiful. We did not see Wolf's Nest as it was occupied and we did not want to intrude on the visitors, although we did meet Nancy and Mark on trail, very nice people. The view from Ridge Camp is absolutely incredible! Took our breath away! Thanks again - hope to see you soon! kay #1558 "The views, the peaceful setting , the sauna - absolutely incredible." Our second visit to fourpeaks was so much more than we had expected. Staying at Ridge Camp was the best thing we decided to do. The views, the peaceful setting , the sauna - awe the sauna, absolutely incredible. It was a break that we both needed to rest, relax and explore. The only thing I would change at Ridge Camp would be to add a fireplace. The dogs had a great time as well. We will be back in the spring and this time we want Sugar Camp. Take care and have a great winter season. Jim & Len WEBMASTER'S NOTE: Fireplace, well really parlor stove, added March 2000. #1045 "Great trails and spectacular views! Ridge Camp was great, everything we needed was there and having dinner by candlelight every night was a real treat. Spent our days hiking and picknicking, great trails and spectacular views! We will definitely be back.
